The shop acts as a travel advice and tourist information centre for Slaithwaite and the surrounding area of the Colne Valley. The shop also sells books, postcards, Ordnance Survey maps, walking guides, leaflets and gifts.
We have a good range of secondhand books including a selection of railway and canal books from well known bookseller Nick Tozer. There is also a range of local items about the Colne Valley, an area steeped in history. The Colne Valley was a heartland of the Luddites, saw the rise of Socialism and the Cooperative movement.
It's also a great area for walkers who enjoy the very pleasant towpath along the recently restored Huddersfield Narrow Canal between Slaithwaite and Marsden and an extensive network of paths up the valley sides.. There are welcoming cafes, pubs and small shops in both Slaithwaite and Marsden. You can easily get here on public transport, using the hourly train service, which runs between Huddersfield and Manchester Victoria and stops at Slaithwaite and Marsden.
See you soon!
