Mid Cheshire Friends in actionThe Mid Cheshire Line friends hard work has paid off as this week they have been awarded a level four (out of five levels) certificate at North West in Bloom, in the It’s Your Neighbourhood section of the competition.

This year they entered the Mid Cheshire Line (every station between Mouldsworth and Altrincham – 12 stations entered as 1 entry). The competition have never had a railway line enter before - usually it is individual stations so this was a first!

The five award levels are establishing, improving, developing, thriving and outstanding so its very pleasing that as a first time entrant, the Mid Cheshire Line was awarded level four – thriving. Volunteers have worked really hard at every station & it is really good that their efforts have been recognised ...... certainly the Friends’ efforts are very visible along the line.

The competition has encouraged volunteers and partners to do more and has encouraged more volunteers to get involved - resulting in cleaner, brighter, more welcoming stations. Thank you to Northern for their support & sponsoring some of the Friends to attend the awards.

If you would like more information regarding volunteering and community rail projects at Cheshire West Stations, please get in with Sally Buttifant the Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership Officer who will be very happy to talk to you about making a difference at Cheshire stations!!
