ACoRP Research and Projects

ACoRP undertakes research and project work on behalf of a wide range of third parties and Community Rail Partnerships.

On these pages you will find reports on on-going projects and completed work. Over the years we have also produced a range of research reports on rural and local lines, working with public bodies such as the former Countryside Agency.

Amongst the most successful of our projects is the Community Stations Initiative (please note: 'Community Stations Initiative' is the new name for the Central Stations Project).   The aim is to make better use of redundant station buildings by making them available as a resource for local communities. The benefits, apart from assisting community groups, can include bringing stations back to life through a daily presence whilst adding value to the rail service and promoting station security and passenger well being. A review of the Community Stations Initiative can be found by clicking here

Other recent projects have included Making Rail Accessible, tackling social exclusion and transport through providing tailored travel advice; and work on the concept of lighter weight rolling stock to address potential savings on infrastructure cost for community lines.

We have access to a large network of specialists in most aspects of rail and integrated transport planning and policy. Our main focus for research and consultancy is ‘the local railway’ and its links with communities.
