ACoRP Research and Projects ACoRP undertakes research and project work on behalf of a wide range of third parties and Community Rail Partnerships. Amongst the most successful of our projects is the Community Stations Initiative (please note: 'Community Stations Initiative' is the new name for the Central Stations Project). The aim is to make better use of redundant station buildings by making them available as a resource for local communities. The benefits, apart from assisting community groups, can include bringing stations back to life through a daily presence whilst adding value to the rail service and promoting station security and passenger well being. A review of the Community Stations Initiative can be found by clicking here Other recent projects have included Making Rail Accessible, tackling social exclusion and transport through providing tailored travel advice; and work on the concept of lighter weight rolling stock to address potential savings on infrastructure cost for community lines.
